How High THC and Zero CBD Hijacked Our Weed

Have you noticed that nearly everything at the dispensary says 0% CBD?

It’s not just you. Somewhere along the way, cannabis stopped being a plant with personality and became a product with percentages. And the one number everyone’s been trained to chase? THC.

But here’s the issue: the more THC you pack in, the more you crowd out the other compounds—CBD, THCV, even the terpenes that give weed its effect and flavor. What we’re left with is a lopsided, psychoactive product that’s potent but not necessarily therapeutic.

This isn’t nostalgia talking. It’s biology.
Back in the ‘70s, weed averaged 2–8% THC—and people still got high. They also laughed, danced, and had creative breakthroughs. Why? Because the plant was balanced. Today, with flowers testing at 30% and vapes hitting 90%+ THC, we’re seeing more reports of anxiety, “greening out,” hyperemesis syndrome, and even psychosis in vulnerable populations. That’s not a fluke. That’s chemistry.

I don’t want dispensaries to disappear. I want them to do better.
We need to bring back intentional, balanced cannabis—weed that’s grown with care, tested with integrity, and designed to work with your body, not hijack it.

Some brands are still getting it right. Pure Beauty offers 1:1 and 2:1 flower. Care By Design has a full line of high-CBD ratios (from 40:1 to 1:1) in tinctures and gummies. But these aren’t the norm—and that’s the problem.

If you’ve felt off after a recent dispensary visit, or wondered where the mellow, giggly highs went, you’re not alone.

The industry can course-correct—but only if we speak up.

I’d love to hear from you:
